What's in Ward 1?
Ward 1 is one of Guelph’s fastest-growing and most diverse communities, blending established neighbourhoods with major future development areas like the Guelph Innovation District in the York Lands. The ward includes a mix of residential communities, commercial areas, parks, recreation spaces, and important community institutions that serve both longtime residents and newer families.
Ward 1 is home to places such as the Guelph Public Library - East Side Branch, the Victoria Road Recreation Centre, Eastview Community Park, DIYODE Community Workshop, the York Lands Green Hub, and the historic former Guelph Correctional Centre. The ward also includes the City’s Waste Resource Innovation Centre and sits alongside the Guelph Airport.
Ward 1 reflects many of the opportunities and challenges shaping Guelph’s future, including growth, housing, infrastructure, sustainability, economic development, and community wellbeing. Decisions made in this ward will help shape how Guelph grows and adapts in the years ahead.
